Jailbreaking the stick

For the below method to work, we need to jailbreak the Firestick first. It might sound complicated, but I assure you it is really not.

Step 1

In the homepage of the firestick, locate Settings, then tap on Preferences -> Privacy.

Step 2

There will be an option to turn “Collect App Usage Data” on or off. The option is on by default, you need to turn it off. The reason for turning it off is because we want to avoid any potential issues with the Amazon system.

By the way, for older version of the Firestick, the “collect App Usage Data” is located right after Settings. It has been changed recently with the newer system version, and with the Firestick with Alexa.

Step 3

Back to the homepage, and scroll to Device inside Settings

On the second row, there will be “Developer options.” Tap on it, and enable Apps from Unknown Sources. Doing so would allow third-party apps which are not parts of the Amazon to be installed onto the firestick.

Installing Vudu on Firestick: Method 1

Downloader

Next, we need an alternative place to download Vudu because you won’t find it in the Amazon appstore.

Step 1

However, what you can find in the Amazon appstore is an app called “Downloader.” It’s an app with an orange color background and an arrow pointing down.

Step 2

Once you finished downloading and installing the app, click on it to open. You should see a message popping up from the system asking if you would give it permissions to access files on the system. Make sure you click allow. Otherwise, the software won’t be able to function properly.

Step 3

On the homepage of the app, you will see a bunch of things on the left, and there are Settings among them. Tap on it, and there will be an option to Enable Javascript. Put a tick on it to enable the option.

Step 4

Now go back to the main homepage where the search bar is, then enter the URL to download Vudu APK https://bit.ly/2OnSLnG. It will then initiate the installation of Vudu.

ES File Explorer App

If the Downloader app is somehow not working, not available due to whatever reason, you can try ES File Explorer App. Besides, it doesn’t hurt to try other similar applications as each one has its own pros, cons, and features which you might find convenient.

Step 1

Go to the Amazon app store and search for ES File Explorer App. Download and install the app, just like Downloader.

Step 2

Open the app, and you will find the homepage with a bunch of different things you can do. However, the one we are interested right now is the one with Downloader icon.

Step 3

Tap on the logo with the Downloader icon, then you will see a “+ New” at the bottom of the screen, click on it.

Step 4

A white box will pop up asking for a path and name for the third-party you will be downloading. Paste the following link https://bit.ly/2OnSLnG to the path, and type “Vudu” as the name.

Step 5

Click the Download Now button to begin downloading Vudu. It will take a couple of minutes to complete.

Step 6

Click the Open File option. A black box will pop up to ask if you want to install the application. Click on the Install button at the bottom to install.

Step 7

Once the installation is complete, click on open and Vudu will be launched.
